Village To Promote Business With Book

In Elk Grove Village's continuing effort to market the village as a good place to do business, Development Department officials have contracted to publish "The Elk Grove Book."

"The purpose for this book is simple: promote local commerce and industry through a powerful marketing and networking tool," said Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson in a written statement on theelkgrovebook.com website. "The Elk Grove Book will help us spread the message of 'The Exceptional Community.'"

Publisher Matthew Walker said the first section of the approximately 150-page book would be a history of the village both past and present with the second section devoted to profiles of local businesses with the theme "Made in Elk Grove."

The website already features some of Elk Grove's history and features on current village features, including transportation, health care, nature and education. Walker said he would work with village Business Development and Marketing Director Josh Grodzin to identify the more established village companies to profile first. He said businesses interested in being profiled should contact him.

Photographers were out shooting local landmarks and other points of interest this week, said Walker.

The book is expected to hit shelves by the end of this year or early in 2012.

Walker also published the "Book of Chicago", a 288-page tome devoted to all things Windy City.

Elk Grove Village marketing itself through book

Elk Grove Village is trying to market itself as a business-friendly town by publishing a community guide dubbed "The Elk Grove Book."

The guide, which will be available in print and online, will chronicle the community's achievements and showcase its business resources, according to the website theelkgrovebook.com.

"The purpose for this book is simple: promote local commerce and industry through a powerful marketing and networking tool," Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson said in a written statement. "We believe that retention and growth of our existing business base is contingent upon sharing our story with the world. The Elk Grove Book will help us spread the message of 'The Exceptional Community.'"

The book's target audience includes residents, existing businesses, and companies interested in moving to town. It's a sales and marketing tool that businesses can use to promote the region to their clients.

The roughly 150-page book would include a history of the village, as well as profiles of local businesses that are "Made in Elk Grove." Some of that information and other village resources also will be featured on the website.

For more information about how to get your business featured in The Elk Grove Book, call Josh Grodzin, director of business development and marketing, at (847) 357-4005.

The book likely will be released by year end or in early 2012. Read more: http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20110805/business/708059852/#ixzz1V6pP4HGp
